Prairie du Chien is the second oldest settlement in the state of Wisconsin. It was settled in the late 1600’s by fur trappers, traders, settlers and businessmen . It is a unique area missed by the glaciers, but formed by the runoff. As such, the community sits between the towering bluffs of the Mississippi River Valley. The area abounds with items of historical interest.

With a surrounding area population of approximately 10,000, Prairie du Chien is the center of Employment, Shopping, Medical care and Financial institutions.

The local airport has two runways with the longest being capable of handling mid-sized jets at 5000 feet.

There is a wide variety of Recreational activities in addition to boating and fishing on the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers. Tourism is a large business in the Spring through Fall.

Education is provided through a public and parochial school system. Vocational school with 30 minutes and several University options are available within one hour.

The Prairie du Chien area, which includes Bridgeport, Marquette and McGregor Iowa is an ideal area for a primary or secondary home or business.
